GREEN HOUSE CONSTRUCTION

We use the most appropriate technology, enhanced and adapted for Ecuador’s best growing conditions for roses. Our green houses have a heating system that controls the temperature stay balanced and adequate for the roses to grow in, helping us minimize any damage cold nights can cause to our crops.

VARIETY SELECTION

Part of our most valuable commercial strategy is based on the renewal of varieties every year. Considering the flower business changes also in style and fashion it is very important for us to follow the trend and offer our customers the newest and most exquisite varieties available in the market. In Agrocoex we update 15 to 20 % of varieties each year.

SOIL PREPARATION

The use of organic material and compos allows us to take the best advantage of the soil we grow our flowers in, which has a unique volcanic structure.
We optimize the use of water and nutrients, two basic and fundamental elements needed every day in the cultivation of roses.

VEGETATIVE STAGE OF THE PLANT

From the moment the plant is planted to its first harvesting it takes 7 months of preparation. We provide our roses the richest nutrients and conditions to grow in high altitude. The weather conditions from the place the farms are located at develop unique characteristics for our roses.

IRRIGATION AND FERTILIZATION

We use an integral irrigation system, which allows us to apply water in necessary quantities at the right time to achieve high levels of efficiency in water, energy and chemicals.

HARVEST

Every day 61.000 stems are harvested in our farms. Our staff has the appropriate equipment, training and experience to identify the right cut stage needed for the different markets we supply to. Every morning with extreme care the flowers get transported from the production area to postharvest in the less possible time and avoiding any possible damage in the product.

INTEGRATED PEST CONTROL

We strictly control phytosanitary diseases, the integrated pest management is an environmentally sensitive approach to biological pest management; it relies on a combination of the newest agronomic pests and disease preventive techniques, using information of the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment. This allows managing pests damage with the least possible hazard to workers, plants and the environment.
All chemicals used in the farms are environmentally friendly. We select only blue and green label chemicals and combine the applications with pesticides produced from natural resources.
